The Modern drive on both the 6- & 12-volt starters is larger and stronger than the original. ON 8BA 1948-1953 Motors, it will be necessary to remove the starter plate and grind a small amount of the cast iron or steel intermediate housing. This will allow the drive to fit between the ring gear and the intermediate housing. If you prefer, you can take modern drive off and use the original one off your starter and will fit fine. New starter motor includes modern style drive gear. Sold outright, no core required. Has narrow 3/8 end plate, will fit 1932-53 flathead V-8 engines.
